In raspberry come with LED dot matrix display, it would be more trouble. Raspberry Pi because of the limited number of IO, IO control if each one LED. Get the most they can control about 35 LED.
Use special LED constant current control chip, basically only takes Raspberry Pi SPI interface (3 IO + 2 个 enabled) you can control 64 LED lights. LED dot matrix drivers only became possible!
